COMMITTED TO THE IDEA OF

I am Jackie Jaramillo, and for as long as I can remember, I’ve been committed to the idea of authenticity – as a sales tool, as a business philosophy, and as a touchstone for a life well-lived.

I credit the people who brought me up for my ability to keep my priorities straight and my feet on the ground.

But while my friends and family help me keep it real, I’ve also always had a relentless drive towards empowerment and entrepreneurialism. Where that comes from, I have no idea – but it has landed me here: a young woman working as a coach and consultant in an industry that, frankly, hasn’t traditionally featured a lot of young women.

I’ve met some great people in the years that I’ve been working in and around the food and beverage world. But the fact that I’ve thrived in this business has also raised a lot of eyebrows, and produced more than a few reactions that roughly translate to: “What’s SHE doing here?”

Well, what I’m doing here is what I do best: providing a fresh take and a much-needed new outlook on my industry, so my clients can do their best.
I’ll leave it to anyone who’s interested to decide what qualities or talents have made me successful. All I know is that the path to success in business and in life has always seemed fairly obvious to me: you’ll get ahead if you just be straight with people, be honest without being cruel, be your authentic self.

There was a time when sales people, buyers, leaders and consultants were expected to speak a certain language – jammed with jargon, taking whole paragraphs to express a five-word idea. We don’t live in that world anymore. People have gotten wise, and, quite frankly, they don’t tolerate B.S. the way they used to…

Because what I get a charge out of isn’t charming someone, winning them over, talking them into some deal they’re reluctant to enter into. I get my most sincere thrills when I find a client who’s committed to their idea, who has a vision and a purpose, who’s not just in the game to make a buck, cash out and go sleep in a hammock.

Because in my view, the times call for people to put a stake in the ground, to say “this is where I’m going to make my mark.” These business leaders are the ones who are going to set the course of the world in the years to come – and they’re the people I naturally click with.
